Mocedades is one of only five acts from Spain to score a top 10 hit in the U.S. But the extremely rare thing was that by 1974, the original Spanish language version of the song was a top 10 hit in the United States, hitting #9 in the Billboard Hot 100. The song was released as a single shortly after the contest and achieved chart success across Europe, far outstripping the winner. They came in second to the Luxembourg entry “Tu te reconnaîtras” by Anne-Marie David.
